Mormon Tab Choir Email

So...rumors have been flying around Deseret Book HQ that I have a Bachelors Degree in Digital Media. :) It's funny...people will ask me about it and then ask, "Why are you working in the mailroom, then?" So I explain that it's always been my dream job and I can now die happy. ;)

Anyway...the Web Marketing guys heard about about my skills and asked if I could fill in on a project that was due the next day-the Mormon Tabernacle marketing email. They asked me yesterday and it was due today. Since I've not ever done a marketing email I was a bit nervous, but I really wanted to see if I could figure it out. I did. Took me about 2 hours and I pleased quite a few people. :) Kudos to me!

Eastern Europe

A friend randomly had an extra plane ticket to Eastern Europe this November. She had gotten an amazing deal and was looking for someone to go with her. It was under $1000, so long story short, I'm going in November.

As of now, the tentative itinerary is as follows:

-3 days in Budapest, Hungary and surrounding towns
-Possibly a day in Bratislava, Slovakia on the way to Vienna
-3 days in Vienna, Austria with a day trip out to Melk Abbey
-3 days in Prague, Czech Republic with a possible stop on Cesky Krumlov on the way to Prague
-Return to Budapest to come home

Since the trip is November 11th through the 22nd, I will spend my 29th birthday in Europe. Now doesn't that sound like an awesome way to celebrate! :)

New Job!

When I got off the boat last Wednesday night, I had a voicemail from the guy I interviewed with at Deseret Book Headquarters offering me a job. I had interviewed the week before and hadn't heard back for about a week. When I went on the SCUBA trip I was pretty sure it wasn't going to work out.

I quit my last job on May 1st and things were getting a little scary. I've been looking for a second job since that time, but nothing was coming of it. Thank goodness I still had my job at the LDS Church Headquarters, but since it's only part time and they only give you a 1000 hours a year, my time was running out quickly.

I started work this Monday. My official title is: "Office Services Clerk." Basically all this means, is that I'm in charge of the mail room, keeping office supplies stocked, and help setup conference rooms. A simple, non-glamorous job. I love it! (They did find out I had a BS degree in Digital Media and I think they will give me more technical jobs to do, which should mean more money).

Everybody is so nice and I can't help but feel so very blessed. I have the best 2 jobs in the world and I work with some of the coolest people.

Since the Deseret Book Headquarters happens to be right across the street from Temple Square and so close to the Church Office Building it works out perfectly. In the mornings I work at DB, and in the afternoons, I walk over to the COB. It's perfect. :)

SCUBA at Catalina Island 2009

Last week I took off to go diving around Catalina Island in California. I got to be the assistant dive leader on the boat. So in other words, I got to go basically for free. Can't beat a vacation like that! :) Below is a picture of the Sand Dollar. It's a live-aboard boat we were on for 2 days.

This is one set of bunks on the boat. I was in the back on the bottom. We can fit up to 11 people in this bunk area. Thankfully there were only about 8 of us this time around.

This was my third trip to Catalina and this was the best yet. The last two times it was cold and we never were able to dry off completely because it was always raining. Trust me...the word DAMP, was a bad word during those trips.

The weather was GORGEOUS and the water was much warmer than in the past. Still wet suit temperature, but after the first initial shock of getting in, it wasn't a big deal. You got out because you were low on air, not because it was cold. Twas wonderful!

Catalina is awesome for diving because of what you get to see. There is so much sea life. Here's some of what I saw on my 6 dives. Octopus, Bat Rays, Sand Sharks, enormous Lobster, Eels, Sea Cucumbers, Garibaldi fish, Halibut, and two seals. That was just the sea life. Lots of beautiful coral and kelp. We even saw a few sunken ship. Definitely a good trip.

I didn't take as many picture this time around, mainly because I've seen it all before. Plus, I just didn't want to mess with my camera underwater or on the boat. It was nice just to chill and help others have a good time diving. It was a working trip after all. ;)

Summer Concerts

Kelly Clarkson came to Utah Valley University in June. I had seen Kelly earlier this year when she toured with Reba. She was wonderful and thought it would be fun to see her again. She's amazing live and we were not disappointed. Here's a few pictures:

Obviously, we didn't have the best seats, but with the screen, it all worked out. :)

We got rained on a bit, but it was totally worth it. We even got to see a double rainbow. You'll notice that Kelly is at the end of those rainbows.

George Strait came to Salt Lake last weekend. He hasn't been to Utah for over 10 years, so me and a bunch of friends went to see the show. Because it's a country concert, AND because it's George Strait, we made sure we had our hats and jeans for the show. So who cares if it's 100 degrees?? If you are a country fan, you grin and bare it. : )

George was amazing!! Good times were had by all!

Moved to Bountiful

So...I finally moved to Bountiful. It's been in the works for quite some time. I graduated in December and have been working in Salt Lake for the past 6 months. The commute from Orem to downtown Salt Lake was a killer. Fortunately I was able to take the bus a lot of the time.

A friend of mine that works at the Church Office Building bought a condo in Bountiful. Cutest place ever, but 4 days after she bought it, we had a flood. Well...when they were cleaning up after the flood, they found mold, from a flood, 4 years earlier. Not something you want to hear 4 days after buying a place. Luckily the HOA (Home Owners Association) took care of most of the expenses. The mold wasn't deadly so they ripped the bad parts out and made the needed repairs. One month later, I finally got to move in.

My commute takes me like 20 minutes on a busy day. Compare that to the 50 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes it took from Orem. It was about time. I was suffering from severe road rage.

Let us be Creative...

Here's a little clip I found this morning. It's a little snippet of Elder Uchtdorf's talk last October. Enjoy!
